Caribbean singer-songwriter Omari Banks and Chris Gayle, both former West Indian international cricketers, have joined forces a new summer anthem, “Living It Up”. Now streaming on all major platforms, the track is a breezy blend of island rhythms, upbeat energy, and the shared spirit of two athletes-turned-artists.
“Living It Up is all about the joy and freedom of Caribbean life,” says Omari Banks. “It draws from my days as a young cricketer, traveling the world and soaking in every moment.” Known for his soulful guitar work and roots reggae sound, Banks brings an infectious, feel-good vibe to this track while maintaining his signature authenticity.
The single was produced by Banks himself and co-arranged by acclaimed musician Michael Fletcher. It’s a true collaborative effort: Omari penned the hook and his verses, while Gayle and producer Camar “Flava” crafted their own lyrical contributions. Executive production comes from Ann and Gordon Woodward, along with Banks.
But this partnership runs deeper than music. “Chris and I go way back,” Banks explains. “From youth cricket to the international stage, we’ve shared a brotherhood that made this musical collaboration feel natural.”
Chris Gayle, known for his bold personality on and off the field, felt an instant connection to the track. “The first time I heard it, I knew I had to jump on,” he says. “It’s fun, uplifting, and reflects the way I live—always in celebration of life.”
Gayle sees the transition from sports to music as a continuation of performance. “Being an athlete is its own kind of stage,” he says. “Now I get to bring that same energy to music.”
With a video on the way and more content in the pipeline, Living It Up is shaping up to be a summer staple—from beach parties to backyard limes.
